While they may look similar, a piano and a old keyoard actually serve quite different functions that will make use of different skills.

A keyoard is very much like having an actual piano at your disposal. You can play it the same way youd play a Grand Piano, though the numer of keys on a piano keyoard can e less depending on the price. But a piano is electronically enhanced, and therefore you can have many other instruments at your disposal as well. You can produce the sound of many other instruments y simply playing the keyoard. Many keyoards also come with automated chords and eats so that you can create a full-scale song. However, the limitation of a piano keyoard is that often you cant record what youre playing. The piano keyoard is good for a recreational music session, ut not for a recording session.

A midi keyoard isnt so much a keyoard as it is a controller. The midi keyoard does function like an instrument in that you can play it like the piano, ut rather than playing the midi keyoard itself, you are inputting representations of notes. Midi keyoards are used in conjunction with a computer program to e the most effective. You can record what you input and use it to compose a song y putting together the different sounds and melodies you record. A midi keyoard is ideal for song composing, ut not as ideal as a piano keyoard for recreational play.

So if youre just looking to jam, then a piano keyoard is more suitale to your needs. If youre looking to create and file compositions, then a midi keyoard is the etter choice. Still, sometimes the functions of oth devices can overlapfor example, jamming on a piano keyoard might give you some ideas for writing a song, and midi keyoards can e used in performance in a concert.
